Last weekend the 4th round of the Portuguese Nationals 1/10 TC took place at the track of Maiorca close Figueira da Foz where about 15 days ago also the on road nationals were. We were very motivated for the best possible results and thus worked on every detail during practises at our track in Lisbon with some new motors and speedos from Nosram.
Saturday practice started very good with the electronics working superbly and weather being just right for the racing with 36°C air and 45°C tarmac. Bruno was in a great form and was the only one who made 15s laps. The rest of the drivers were 2s slower, so we finished practising and we aim to help our teammatesHelder and Pedro. At 8pm we called it a day and went for a dinner.
On Sunday morning we got a sad message that our close friend Antonio Jose had passed away that night and it was now really hard, almost impossible to focus on racing. On the way to the track we talked and agreed upon the win at this race would be a tribute to Antonio
The qualifications didnâ t start as we expected, in the first heat one small crash cost us a lot of time and Bruno decided to go to pits in order to save the tires for next heats. In the second one our teammate Pedro flip his car over and Bruno did not have any time to react and avoid collision. Fortunately only front bumper was damaged, however we made only 3 laps in each of these heats and clearly Bruno needed some motivation. Next qualification was a completely different run and Bruno was the only driver who made 19 laps and got TQ.
The first two final runs were both the same, Bruno took the lead right from the start and with one lap ahead of the rest of the field he easily controled his position to the finish. In the third final they showed the audience some spectacular racing with his direct rival with many overtakings in high speed. At the end Bruno pushed even harder and crossed the finish line 8 sec in ahead of the second driver.
So for us it´s a weekend with mixed feelings and we would like to dedicate this victory to our sponsors but specially to our friend Antonio Jose, RIP
